DEREK SHOGREN, 1ST VICE PRESIDENT

I have enjoyed the past years as a member of the Board of Directors, as 1st Vice President, President and Past President. I am an active participant in Board discussions and on past committees such as Strategic Planning and Government Affairs, and currently the Vice President responsible for the Economic Development/Strategic Planning committees. I wish to put my name forward again this year for the Board as North Bay goes into another important year in its’ history. The business community needs to play a vital role in North Bay and ensure that its’ voice is heard. I am the General Manager of Canadian Tire. I have also been the chair of Summer in the Park for the past two years; co-chair on the Labour Market Group; and chair of Stepping Stones (business incubator). As a father, there is no more important goal than to provide our children with a future in North Bay. My family has been in North Bay since 1930 when my grandfather Ralph Foster opened up a dental practice on Main Street. North Bay and its’ development is and will continue to be very important to me. Thank you for your consideration.

JOHN CRESCENZI, 2ND VICE PRESIDENT

I am married with two young children (1 boy and 1 girl) - "million dollar family, without the million dollars." My family recently moved here from Toronto and are enjoying being a part of this wonderful community. My experience in the Hospitality Industry spans over the past 19 years. In this time, I have held various positions for recognized companies such as Walt Disney World, Club Med, Hilton & Holiday Inn. In Toronto, I was an active member of the Advisory Committee for the Hospitality program at Humber College, and have recently agreed to take part on a similar committee here at Canadore College. In a recent letter to Mark King and Mayor Victor Fedeli, I suggested that my team at the new Holiday Inn Express will not only be Service Ambassadors for Holiday Inn, but also for the City of North Bay. In many cases, we set the first impression for many who are visiting this city for the first time.

JOHN STRANG, 3RD VICE PRESIDENT

John moved to North Bay in 1979 and graduated form West Ferris Secondary in 1984. After attending Canadore College, John's focus turned to his family and his community. Jonathan 16, Carly 13, Adam 4, and Ben 3, benefit from their father's continued commitment to their personal successes and to their communities well being. John has been involved with Easter Seals and the Kiwanis Club. He is an active member of the A.C.T. and the Heritage Festival Management and Executive Committees. John spent 16 years with Prime Restaurants and for the past 7 years has helped U NEED A CAB grow to meet the needs of our thriving community.

RICK EVANS, TREASURER

I would like to thank you for allowing me to represent your interests on this year’s Board and am pleased to have been Treasurer on the Executive since 2003 to present. Other responsibilities include the Finance, Membership, and Administration Standing Committee. The Board is dedicated to moving forward the Chamber’s aggressive business development strategy. I manage the City’s Mayor’s Office of Economic Development Department and, in the past, I co-chaired the Chamber’s Economic Growth Committee, and was a member on the Small Business Week Committee. I have been involved in many task forces with the Chamber. Other vital partnerships have resulted in business-to-business ventures, such as the Export Development Initiative as well as the joint marketing with the D.I.A. I have had over 20 years experience in the industrial private sector prior to joining the City. More importantly, I have a real passion for our City and a desire to help it reach its true potential.
